This function will allow the patient to control the extent of sharing their medical information.
Types of medical data that can be shared:
- Share selective information or entire data package
- Doctors (facilitate sharing data with a specialist)
- Research Institutes (academia and clinical research)
- Insurance (check for competitive drug pricing)
- Pharmaceutical companies (aid drug development)
Information shared with the Medical Data Ocean™ is always de-identified. It is stripped of all 18 HIPAA personal identifiers, and the data is reduced to its mathematical essence using our Data Distiller™ tool. This means that primary data is not shared, only a series of secondary data, such as keywords and numbers.
There are research initiatives that can allow patients to collaborate with researchers who need access to primary data, but this is an exception that the patient can choose to explicitly authorize to advance science and drug development.
